Spicy and Sweet Sourdough Pizza

Sourdough Pizza Recipe for Crispy Crusts
Note: This recipe yields two small pizzas. For larger pizzas, prepare two separate batches.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup (50 grams) Sourdough Starter
- 2 Cups (250 grams) Flour
- 3/4 Cup (175 grams) Water
- 1 Teaspoon Salt (5 grams)
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil (15 grams)
Optional: Enhance your crust with herbs
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Basil
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Instructions:
- Combine starter, flour, and water; whisk together and then knead into a ball. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Add salt and 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil to the dough, fold it for a few seconds to incorporate.
- Wet your hands with water or oil; stretch and fold the dough from the outside to the center, repeating for one minute. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- Repeat step 3. Fold in optional herbs, if desired, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface, roll it out to your desired pizza size, folding over the edges to create a crust.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
- Grease your pizza pan and place the dough on top. Bake for 17 to 20 minutes.
Pizza Toppings:
- 4 oz Salami or Pepperoni of your choice (such as Prima Vera)
- 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
- 8 oz Marinara Sauce (if making your own, add 1/2 teaspoon each of thyme, oregano, dried basil, and garlic powder)
- 3 Tablespoons Tapatio Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
- Spread marinara sauce over the crust (add herbs if desired).
- Top with Tapatio sauce, salami, and mozzarella. Bake at 425°F (218°C) for 10 minutes.
- Finish by drizzling honey over the pizza before serving. Enjoy the delightful blend of flavors!
