Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1/2 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/8 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice (or mix 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon with 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

For the Coating:

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk (any kind)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a small bowl, combine warm water, a pinch of sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
  2. Make the Dough: In a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, add the foamy yeast mixture along with the sugar, beaten egg, melted butter, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice. Start mixing on low speed. Gradually add half of the flour until incorporated, then slowly add the remaining flour. Continue mixing until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl and becomes slightly sticky but doesn’t stick to your hands. Knead with the mixer for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Prepare for Baking: Lightly grease a 9-inch cake pan or loaf pan and line with parchment paper. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating. Place melted butter in another bowl. Take the dough out of the mixer, cut it into small pieces (about 1 tablespoon each), dip each piece in melted butter, roll in the cinnamon sugar, and arrange in the prepared pan. If there’s extra butter or sugar, drizzle it over the top. Cover the pan loosely with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for an additional hour in a warm place.
  4. Bake the Bread: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the bread for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Prepare the Frosting: While the bread cools, mix together all frosting ingredients until smooth.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once the bread has cooled slightly, drizzle the sweet glaze over the top. Serve warm for a delightful treat that’s sure to impress.
